Our History
The Ambassadors of Harmony have a proud legacy as one of the premier men’s barbershop choruses in the world, representing the St. Louis metro area with an unmatched blend of musical excellence, camaraderie, and community spirit.

Founded in 1963 as the Daniel Boone Chorus, the group began as a small assembly of men who shared a passion for the rich, harmonious sound of barbershop music. Over the years, the chorus grew both in size and reputation, expanding its repertoire and honing its performance skills. By the mid-1990s, under the direction of the legendary Dr. Jim Henry, the chorus adopted the name "Ambassadors of Harmony" to reflect its mission to spread the joy of harmony to all corners of the world.​
​In 2004, the Ambassadors of Harmony made their mark on the international stage by winning their first Barbershop Harmony Society International Championship. This victory cemented their place among the elite barbershop choruses globally. Since then, the Ambassadors have gone on to win four international gold medals, with titles in 2009, 2012, and 2016, and have become known for their innovative arrangements, stunning choreography, and dynamic stage presence.

Today, the Ambassadors of Harmony are comprised of over 130 talented singers who share a commitment to musical excellence, lifelong learning, and spreading joy through their art. The chorus has become a staple of the St. Louis cultural scene, regularly performing at local events, and collaborating with other musical groups to provide unique and unforgettable performances.​
Despite the many accolades and international recognition, the heart of the Ambassadors of Harmony has always been its commitment to fostering a love of music, mentorship, and community. From inspiring younger generations of singers to partnering with local organizations for outreach initiatives, the chorus continues to be an ambassador not only of harmony in music, but harmony in spirit.
